Inspired by: Art Journaling - A Layout

Hi everyone! a little something different to share today. I created this page using theJanuary KOM - Carpe Diem from Flying Unicorn. January has been a really fun month on the forums, and we introduced the new Art Journaling Challenge. For me, and for many others, this is a new thing. I, for one, have never done any sort of art journaling, and do not at this time own a journal that can be used for it. But I was SO inspired by all of our members, and the CT who are having fun with the free play that art journaling has to offer. I decided to take that inspiration, and translate it into a layout! So, I got out my KOM, mostly the scraps, and set to work...layering, masking, painting, misting, doodling, piling, smooshing...and here is what I got!

Approaching a layout from this perspective was so freeing! I had no particular design or outcome in mind, I just went to work! No title? No problem! And while this may not be my favorite or the most beautiful page, it was definitely a lot of fun!! Check out the close ups..

I really love the Studio Calico mask that came in the kit, and used it all over this page.

Here and there you will see some hole punch- circles that I scattered throughout my background for great texture.

I am now totally inspired to try my hand at art journaling, once I can make some time, and buy a journal!! I encourage you to do the same. Making a big mess and just trying new things can really open up a lot of doors, creatively..
Thanks for stopping by today!!

Gorgeous work! I love playing in my Art-journals! But you don´t have to buy one. Just use an old book. Take out some of the pages and use gesso or multimedium to glue 2-3 together and start to play! Hugs!

Kelly the mixed media is so much fun and so different to the way we usually scrap, this one looks truly amazing. I love all the little embellies, like the little clock near the 'today tomorrow & someday' title.

Fantastic work! I´ve only tried doing LO:s, like you, and its really fun! Now I want to hit my soon-to-by-art-journaling-object (an old babybook) and cover it with paint and other stuff! I still dont know what to write in it, but maybe that´ll come once I get started :)
