Hi there, how's your weekend going? I am excited that it is Sunday, because I get to share with you my first layout created as a Selected Scrapper for the month of February over at a favorite sketch challenge blog,
Skissedilla. I get to be their guest all month long, and I also am giving away a RAK at the end of the month to a special someone who plays along with any of the 4 challenges!! (see below). Not only that, but you have a chance also to win a prize from
Flying Unicorn as well, who is coincidentally sponsoring Skissedilla this month!
Here is my first creation for the month...
I created the backdrop for this page using a 12x12 sheet of corrugated cardboard, colored with Faber Castell Gelatos, Tattered Angels mists, and a bit of gesso. I just love how the brown of the cardboard and the different colors I used on top of it work perfectly with my niece's owl costume.
Above I have used in place of the tree on the sketch, the
Twiggy Branch chippy from
Blue Fern Studios, combined with the
Green Tara Olive Christmas Vine, and some Green Tara Paper Roses. The sweet little owl die cut and all of the other die cuts are from Kaisercraft's Secret Admirer collection, I just love the bright colors!
The word "Sweet" in my title, is a piece from Blue Fern's
Valentine Word Set. I simply misted it black, swiped it with a pink Gelato, then traced over with a white gel pen.

Good grief Kelly - your work is just sensational!! This is beyond fabulous - LOVE the effect of those colours and gesso on the corrugated card, and the floral embellishing is just fantastic (cute photos too, of course)!

Love the roughness of the cardboard background against the sweetness of the photos and the cute little owl tucked into the pretty floral cluster/vine. Fab colours as always, bold and strong! It figures Skissedilla would pick you out sooner or later, you're a perfect match with them fab gals! xoxox
Oh, that has GOT to be the cutest owl costume I've ever seen!!! LOOOOOOOVE this! Look at all those YUMMY candy colored flowers!!!! Adding the painted corrugated background was a genius idea- it really frames the shots and complements what you did in the center of the page- spectacular!! I truly admire how you always take the page to the next level- each and every TIME. It's great to see!
