****For my February Giveaway, go Here****
Hi everyone! Just popping in to share my Off The Page for this month's Flying Unicorn Kit. This month the kit includes a Canvas Corp 12x12 stretched, unbleached canvas. I was SO excited to get to work on this one, and I instantly decided I wanted to do something waaaay out of my comfort zone.
I truly wish I had done a tutorial on this, as I am not sure I can recreate the process. I began with, believe it or not, a 12x12 Crafter's Workshop Snowflake template, which I had used over a scrap paper, and sprayed heavily with various colors of Tattered Angels mists. I let the liquid pool on the mask, then flipped it onto my canvas (which I had primed with gesso) and kind of squished it around, transferring the blobs of color. I then sprayed some more, painted with various colors of mist, sprayed with water, used various masks, and kind of sectioned off the colors for sky, sun, and land. I knew I wanted to use that cute little silhouette of the girl swinging in the tree, so I chose placement for it, then began making the big mess of mist into a scene. the grassy area took the longest, I combined Tattered Angels GlimmerMist in Olive Vine to some modeling paste, and added more texture, layering and layering with various mediums until I was happy with it.

Some of the green began seeping upwards, creating perfect tree shapes. I then took black gesso, and shaded them some. I used watercolor pencils from the kit, and Inka Gold from the January kit to mask the circles to look like a whimsical sun. I used the Crafter's Workshop Flying Geese 6x6 mask for the birds, one of my favorite parts!
I painted over parts of the die cut tree with the black gesso to give it a subtle texture.
I chose my quote, printed it, and mounted it on corrugated cardstock.
I was just so pleased to use TA GlimmerMist to come off looking sort of like a watercolor painting! I really had a blast creating this. I really had a tough time not adding flower clusters, lol. I actually did add some, then removed them by talking myself out of turning this into a scrapbook page!
Thanks for stopping by today!! Have a fabulous day!
